You begin by showing a small brass cube threaded onto a string. The string is held vertical so the cube slides down towards the bottom by gravity.

A multi-colored Cube is threaded on a cord.
It slides freely up and down on the cord.
Yet whenever the performer wishes, he can make the cube freeze at any spot.
A spectator cannot repeat what the magician has done.
